YOUNGSTER Oscar Rutherford admitted Eastleigh have got their "confidence" back after a 5-2 win over Oxford City on Tuesday evening.

Rutherford was involved in the build-up for the Spitfires' first, second and fourth goals of the evening.

The result ended Eastleigh's 11-game wait for a victory in all competitions and kickstarted the Kelvin Davis era in style.

Speaking to the club's media team, Rutherford said: “It was a good team performance.

"It’s still annoying that we conceded the two goals, but this can be a good stepping stone for us to keep building on.

“I was happy with the way I played. There is still room and things for me to improve on. I’m still trying to learn the game.

“There were a couple of times where I got caught dribbling in the midfield when I could have just played the ball.

“But I’m happy with my performance and with my teammates for helping me through the game.

“We only worked with Kelvin for one day before the game, but during that one day, he drove intensity. He has got bags of experience.

“There is loads to learn from him and Butts (Danny Butterfield), the assistant. I’m personally really excited to learn from them and improve my game.

“I know that this has not been the best period for us, but hopefully we are on the up now. We have got the confidence back.

“Hopefully, we can put a run of results together now. We are looking forward to facing Bromley on the weekend."
