STAR striker Danny Ings is reportedly close to agreeing a new long-term contract at Saints.
The Athletic claim the St Mary’s side are increasingly confident Ings will extend the three-year deal he signed with the club in 2019.
Former Burnley and Liverpool man Ings has already scored five times in eight appearances for club and country this season, his latest strike coming against Chelsea in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
He also netted his first international goal for England this month with a spectacular overhead kick against Wales.
The report says talks continue over Ings’ contract details, such as the duration of the fresh terms and a possible release clause.
