CRYSTAL Palace are “set to battle” Fulham for the signature of Saints star Harrison Reed, according to Football Insider.

The midfielder, a product of Saints’ academy, helped Scott Parker’s side reach the top flight on Tuesday.

He played all 120 minutes as Fulham overcame Brentford 2-1 after extra time in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

The Telegraph this week reported Fulham had an option to sign Reed for £8million but personal terms would still have to be agreed.

But Football Insider are now claiming Roy Hodgson’s is a “keen admirer” of the Worthing-born star as Palace have joined the race for his services.

Reed, whose previous loan clubs include Norwich and Blackburn, has played 30 times for Saints in all competitions – including 17 games in the Premier League.
