FORMER Saint Sadio Mane has apologised for his goal at the weekend.
The winger netted with a stunning effort on the verge of half time after being given the time and space to compose himself on the edge of the box.
And after Liverpool fought off a late Saints surge in the closing minutes, Mane admitted he has only positive things to say about his ex-team.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Mane said: “I'm sorry it is against my old team and sorry I have to score but I'm wearing a Liverpool shirt now.
“Southampton was a very good step for me, I have big respect for this club. It is an amazing place.
“I learned a lot here and they are very nice people. But it is part of football and you have to deal with it.”
