SAINTS chairman Ralph Krueger insists there are no guarantees Guido Carrillo and Sofiane Boufal will be sold in the summer.

The duo were loaned out in the summer, with both players choosing Spain as their destination.

Carrillo is currently with ex-Saint Mauricio Pellegrino at Leganes and Boufal is playing his trade at Celta Vigo.

Speaking at the club's fans' forum, Krueger said: “The dream scenario is that you’d always like to sell the players that you don’t want and that you’d like to get the players you want.

“As we know in the market, it’s potentially not possible to get in the right players in January who might be available in the summer.

“We’ve also loaned Carrillo and Boufal and Ralph’s going to take a look at them.

“There’s no 100 per cent guarantee that they would be sold in the summer or not.

“They will come back, and we will re-evaluate them.”

Carrillo was signed by Pellegrino in the January transfer window last year for a club record fee of around £19.2m.

But he failed to hit the ground running and drew a blank in front of goal in his 10 appearances for Saints.

Boufal, 25, signed for the St Mary’s side in the summer of 2016 for a then record £16m.

The Moroccan’s most notable moment in a Saints shirt came during the 2017/18 season when he scored the goal of the season in the 1-0 win over West Brom.

Carrillo’s fortunes have turned around since signing for Leganes, where he has already netted five times in La Liga.

The same could also be said for Boufal, who has two goals to his name in a Celta Vigo side struggling at the bottom end of the table.

It seemed both players wouldn’t have a future on the south coast under former boss Mark Hughes, but Krueger revealed Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to take a closer look at the pair.

Saints’ chairman added: “Both players deserve that opportunity and when we feel the time is right to sell, we will sell.

“The loan and sell situation comes up on the individual case. You don’t want to loan players in either direction unless there is really good business.

“At the moment, Ralph’s already evaluating and is looking at those players again and why not?

“We will make a decision on them in the summer.”
