A damaged car has been blocking the pavement in a Southampton street for days after being crashed into along with several other parked vehicles.

Police were called at 9.45pm on Sunday to a report that a car had crashed into three parked cars on Oxford Street, with one of them hitting and damaging the wall of a nearby property.

Now, almost three days later, the car remains there surrounded by glass - while police speak to witnesses and review CCTV footage.

No-one was injured and no arrests have been made at this time.

Andy Goodall, 62, who lives on Oxford Street said: "The police arrived and put a sticker on the remaining car and it's been left here ever since, blocking the footpath with glass and debris scattered everywhere.

"Talk about health and safety. We have been told by the police and the council that it's nothing to do with them now."

He told the Echo that drivers often "race about" on Oxford Street, adding: "It is an ongoing thing here.

"We try and speak to the police and they're not interested and we try and speak to the council and they are not interested.

"Someone will get seriously hurt here one day. You have got cars running up and down this street.

"It is supposed to be a 20mph speed limit."

Andy said the vehicle involved had left the area soon after but with fluid leaking from it, adding that it was probably "a write-off".

"God knows what speed they were doing," he said.

"We have been onto the council and the police quite a few times to try and do something about the anti-social behaviour along here."

A police spokesperson said there was also another damaged vehicle still present.

They added: "Two of the damaged vehicles were left at the scene as they were parked at the side of the road and not deemed to be obstructing traffic in any way. Contact is currently being made with their owners in order to arrange recovery.
