A businessman is taking on a gruelling bike ride in Vietnam to raise money for a landmine charity.
Harvest's Managing Director, Steve Whitwam, is set to tackle the gruelling Vietnam Cycle Challenge on April 12 to 20, 2024.
With a lot of grit and determination, he will take a five-day biking journey across challenging terrain under Southeast Asia's intense heat, each day cycling for nine hours.
Mr Whitwam is taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for MAG (Mines Advisory Group), a charity that works to clear landmines and unexploded bombs from areas affected by conflict. The charity works tirelessly to ensure safer spaces for communities to live, work, and play.
Each day, these deadly devices either injure or kill 15 people worldwide. Alarmingly half of these are children.
Mr Whitwam said: "I'm excited to take on this challenge and raise awareness for the important work that MAG does.
"Landmines and unexploded bombs have a devastating impact on communities, and I'm committed to helping MAG clear these dangers and build a safer future."
Harvest is a Totton-based business specialising in food distribution.
