Two Southampton legends will be gracing a Warsash pub for a charity quiz.

On Wednesday, May 1, two of the clubs most prolific goal scorers, Matt Le Tissier and James Beattie, will be appearing at The Hook pub in Warsash for an evening of fun, all in the name of a good cause.

The ex-players will be hosting a football quiz, followed by a question and answer session.

At £10 a ticket (with a pint included), every penny raised will be going to the Ex-Saints charity, a collaboration of former Southampton footballers who put on events to help causes and community groups they care about.

The charity, whose other board members include ex-full back Francis Benali, has the stated aim of "the relief of sickness and the preservation of health among people…in the county of Hampshire".

Funds raised from the charity’s previous events have gone to causes such as Southampton Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Sophie’s Appeal and Mountbatten Hospice.

Hannah, manager of The Hook, told The Echo how quickly tickets to the event had been selling.

At the time of interview, there were only 15 left, and if any still remain they can be purchased by calling 01489574114.

Hannah said that Le Tissier and Beattie will be starting the quizzing at 7.30pm, but people should get there for 7pm to enjoy their pint.

Matt Le Tissier made 443 appearances for the club and scored 161 goals, and James Beattie made 204 appearances and scored 68 goals.

The Hook is an independent, family friendly pub nestled in the picturesque waterside village of Warsash and has been open since 2021.

They frequently host events, often in aid of a good cause.

Just recently, a live music night raised over £1000 towards a life-saving liver transplant for local musician Olu Rowe.

Their next event is a psychic night on Wednesday, April 17.

Here’s hoping that the Ex-Saints night, hosted by local DJ Paul Mico and Jim O’Grady, can raise a similar amount for a great cause.
