A college has collaborated with a community centre to provide 100 meals to people who need them.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in Eastleigh has worked with The Pavilion on the Park on the initiative, which was targeted primarily towards the elderly, adults with learning difficulties, and low-income families in the local community.

It comes at a time when the cost of living crisis is putting heavy pressure on people’s finances.

Following their latest efforts, the college’s Vice-Principal Chris Loveday said: “Barton Peveril is committed to making a positive contribution to our local community where appropriate and we feel that our role extends beyond the academic outcomes of our students.

"Being involved in an initiative like this is a real privilege.”

The project is not the first of its kind to come out of Barton Peveril.

In December, the college combined with ManvFat Football and Weight Loss Eastleigh to feed local homeless people, again handing out around 100 meals.
