How much longer must we watch hunts marauding through the countryside chasing and killing wildlife?
The Hunting Act is nearly 20 years old and yet we still see hunts murderously getting away with it. Channel 4 recently exposed the behaviour of the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt.
The sickening footage showed the hunt in action and the fox's final moments as it was ripped apart by the pack of hounds. It’s heartbreaking.
Matt Longman, the police’s lead on fox hunting crime in England said the hunting law is, “without doubt being used at times, by some, as a smokescreen to allow them to continue hunting as they said they would 20 years ago – everybody knows this.”
What more evidence does Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Peak District National Parks need to finally ban ‘trail’ hunts?
After all, as the guardians of these beautiful places, they’re supposed to be protecting the flora and fauna that live in the parks. It’s time for change.
It's time for them to ban trail hunting now. And, with a General Election on the horizon, we have a great opportunity to strengthen the Hunting Act 2004 and end the misery of hunting once and for all.
