POLICE are dealing with a multi-vehicle collision which blocked both lanes of a busy Hampshire road.

Three cars were involved in the accident, which occurred on the A36 between Wellow and Ower on the edge of the New Forest.

Police say those involved suffered only minor injuries.

The road was blocked in both directions but has since reopened.

Hampshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a three vehicle road traffic collision on the A36 between Wellow and Ower.

"Minor injuries, thankfully. However, the road is currently blocked whilst we facilitate recovery. Please avoid the area."

Police say southbound lane has now reopened and the northbound one will do so "soon".

Last night police were called to a single-vehicle accident at Grange Road, Gosport.

A black Peugeot left the road and collided with the central reservation shortly after 7pm. No-one was injured.
