PLANS to enlarge a 1970s-style house and make it "more contemporary" have been rejected.
New Forest District Council has refused an application to build a two-storey extension to a property at West Road in Dibden Purlieu.
Hythe and Dibden Parish Council supported the application but objections were lodged by several people living nearby.
A report to district councillors said: "The proposals seek to remodel and enlarge the existing house from a 1970s simple form to a more contemporary property.
"The proposed extensions and remodelling would result in a dwelling that would stand out prominently and incongruously within the street scene.
"The dwelling would fail to be sympathetic to its immediate environment."
