AN elderly man was taken to hospital after a car overturned on a Hampshire estate.

The emergency services were called to Calmore just before 10.20am today after the vehicle flipped over in Bowater Way.

The casualty is not thought to have been injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

One of several people who took to social media after the accident said: "He's fine. I helped get him out of the car. He's in shock but he walked to the ambulance."

Another added: "One of the other ladies there was a nurse so she checked him over."

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.19am with reports of a vehicle overturning on Bowater Way and colliding with roadside furniture. The driver, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital."

South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
