ASBESTOS exposure has taken the life of another Southampton man.

Alan William Lacey, 77, died on February 27 at Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

The Gurney Road resident was admitted to the facility eight days prior to his death to control the symptoms of his mesothelioma.

An inquest heard that the disease progressed and Mr Lacey's condition deteriorated.

Dr Tiffany Deacon states the medical cause of death as mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure.

Area coroner Jason Pegg adjourned the full inquest to August 31.
