A PONY was killed in one of two hit-and-run accidents which occurred in a 48-hour period in the New Forest.
The New Forest Verderers say the brown mare was hit by a vehicle on the C10 Station Road at Goatspen. The animal was found at 8.30am last Friday.
A pony was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Rhinefield Road, Brockenhurst, on Sunday but was not injured.
The Verderers oversee the system that allows people known as commoners to let their ponies, cows and donkeys to roam the Forest.
The organisation offers a reward of up to £5,000 for information resulting in the conviction of a drivers involved in a hit-and-run incident.
The size of the reward depends of their level of involvement in the prosecution.
