ONE OF the south's leading housebuilders has provided a location for a coronavirus testing centre.

Redrow, which built the luxury Lymington Shores development, volunteered the use of vacant industrial units it owns at nearby Ampress Park.

The testing centre is being used by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum and will be open on selected dates this month.

The site is in a non-residential area and boasts plenty of space for cars being driven out.

Ian Sneddon, managing director of Redrow Southern Counties, said: "We are pleased to be able to support the local effort against Covid-19 in a small way.

"On behalf of Redrow Iā€™d like to thank the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum for everything they are doing to reduce the spread of the virus and protect us in these challenging times, along with all other frontline services.ā€

A resilience forum spokesperson added: "We are very grateful to Redrow for accommodating a mobile Covid-19 testing facility for the general public.

"Its convenient location will help the people of Lymington to get tested quickly and with minimal hassle, all contributing to the fight against Covid-19.ā€

The testing centre is operating the NHS Track & Trace policy.

An appointment can be booked via the NHS Portal, which requires users to input their post code to determine their nearest test centre and tells them which appointments are available appointments.

The portal can be accessed by going online and visiting gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
