FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a fast food restaurant in Southampton city centre last night.

Emergency services were called to Burger King in Above Bar Street at around 9.45pm.

An alarm had been set off due to smoke in a "downstairs toilet area".

Crews used an aerial ladder observation platform and a thermal imagery camera, however, no "obvious signs of the cause" were found.

The incident deemed a false alarm was "handed over to the occupier" with the stop message coming in at 10.43pm.

Meanwhile, police were notified and have been contacted for comment by the Daily Echo.
