PLANS to enlarge a building at a former milk depot have been thrown out.

New Forest District Council has refused to support an application relating to the old Edgars Dairy Depot in Milford Road, Pennington.

DMG Retirement Trust had sought consent to create extra office space by constructing an extension over an existing building.

A report to councillors said the proposed development would result in an intensification of commercial use towards the rear of the site.

The report said the scheme would also create a new commercial use at first floor level.

It also said the piecemeal development of the site would reduce the prospects of it being used to provide a well-designed housing scheme.
