FIREFIGHTERS have dealt with the latest in a series of fires started by disposable barbecues.

The fire broke out near the B3055 Beaulieu to Brockenhurst road.

Beaulieu fire station tweeted: "Despite this much needed rain we have just returned from a fire in Hawkhill Inclosure where a disposable BBQ have been thrown into the undergrowth.

"These BBQs are banned in the New Forest."

The ban was introduced by Forestry England several weeks ago after the prolonged period of hot, dry weather created tinder box conditions across the district.

Several shops in the Forest have agreed to support the ban by refusing to sell disposable barbecues.
