PLANNERS have rejected a proposal to build an "overbearing" garage beside a house in a Hampshire village.
New Forest District Council has turned down an application relating to a semi-detached property at Furzedale Park in Hythe.
Hythe and Dibden Parish Council had urged the authority to reject the proposal.
In a letter to NFDC it said: "The proposed garage sits in front of the natural building line. This would interrupt the existing rhythm of the openness.
"It would be overbearing and out of keeping with the street scene."
The district council rejected the application after criticising the position, scale and height of the proposed garage.
But the applicant, Tom Bennett, has lodged an appeal.
