CIVIC chiefs are studying proposals to build a six-sided "barbecue hut" in the garden of a Hampshire home.

New Forest District Council has received an application relating to Deepdene in Barton Common Road, Barton on Sea.

The council has already given its initial assessment of the scheme.

It says the issues that need to be considered include the potential impact on neighbouring houses and on the character and appearance of the area.

The application says houses in the area "commonly feature ancillary buildings that are enjoyed for a variety of purposes".

It adds: "The proposal fully accords with the neighbourhood plan for Barton.

"It presents a sustainable form of development that would not impact the character or distinctiveness of the street."
