A PUPIL with celebral palsy walked for miles in a bid to support animals who need support.

Krystyna Kuczek, 13, and her class were asked to vote for a charity they would help through a class project.

And when her class mates did not choose the RSPCA, who Krystyna wishes to work for in future, she was upset at first.

Daily Echo:

But despite having difficulty walking due to cerebral palsy, she decided to raise money for the animal support charity by herself.

Year eight pupil Krystyna, who walks with a mobility frame, walked 6.3 miles to The Cedar School in Nursling.

She said: "I was sad because the class didn’t pick the RSPCA. I knew the RSPCA needs money to stay open.

“I have done my daily exercises and used my leg weights. I also went on practice walks of four miles to a shop and back."

The RSPCA are currently facing a funding shortfall and have launched a coronavirus appeal.

The teenager raised over £750 and said she would like to do a charity fundraiser again.

Daily Echo:

“I would love to do a sponsored horse ride," Krystyna added.

While some children have returned to school, she is continuing to be home-schooled.

It took Krystyna around four hours to reach the finish line.

Her foster mum Maria said: "Krystyna is so passionate about the RSPCA because she loves animals and wishes to work for the RSPCA when she is older.

"Walking requires more muscular effort and more conscious thought for her and she will have to drag her frame along behind her too.

"Indulge me for a minute and put yourself in Krystyna’s shoes.

"Imagine yourself walking with straps joining your ankles so that you must concentrate on each step or risk a fall. Now imagine dragging an office-wheelie chair behind you at the same time."
