A GREEN space in a Hampshire town could be named after a former head teacher who was heavily involved in the local community.
Fordingbridge Town Council has received a request to name the facility after Bill Bray, a former head of the town's junior school.
The land is near Augustus Park, a new housing development that has been built at Whitsbury Road, Fordingbridge.
Calls for the green space to be named after Mr Bray were revealed by Cllr Paul Anstey.
He said: "I think this is an absolutely excellent idea, not just for this (site) but for any other areas where we can identify people who have truly made a difference to the town and we can give them some credit.
"Hopefully we can find some other sites and some other influential people in the town."
Augustus Park is named after the portrait painter Augustus John, who used to live in the town.
