PARKING charges in all Eastleigh Borough Council run car parks have been suspended to help support key workers across the borough.
The council has decided to postpone all parking charges to support the NHS workers and key workers across Eastleigh.
But, the message to local residents remains the same, with everyone being told to continue following government guidelines and only go out shopping for essential food and medicines.
Car park changes have been suspended in the following car parks:
- Mitchell Road Multi-storey
- Swan Centre roof top car park
- Wells Place - Swan Centre Undercroft
- Romsey Road
- Leigh Road (adjacent to Bingo Hall)
- Hanns Way
- Southampton Road
- Bishopstoke Road (The Hub)
- Hedge End Train Station
- Hamble Square
These charge suspensions do not apply to Itchen Valley County Park, as the council chose to continue the parking fees to put people off from travelling unnecessarily.
On street parking still applies in places around the borough,
Charges will still apply for Eastleigh town centre on-street parking to ensure spaces are not used for long-term parking, but, the machines have been signed to advise visitors that the council are offering double the paid-for time, meaning if residents buy 30 minutes then have another 30 minutes free.
Visitors should be aware that the expiry time on the Pay & Display ticket won’t change, but there will be no enforcement for the extra period of time.
This offer is only for Eastleigh Town Centre.
