A WOMAN arrested following the death of a baby boy has been released on bail.

The 36-year-old was held on suspicion of murder after the body of the "recently born" baby was found in woodland off Shore Road, Hythe, last Thursday.

Yesterday it was announced that police had been given a further 32 hours to question the suspect.

On Tuesday evening police confirmed that the woman had been released on bail and said investigations into the baby's death were "ongoing".

The woman was arrested on Saturday, two days after the body was found.

Speaking at the time Detective Chief Inspector Liz Williams said: “This is a difficult and complex investigation, and we have a dedicated team working hard to establish the exact circumstances of what took place.

“Our officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area so if you do have any concerns, then please speak to them.

“If you do have information that you think could help our enquiries, then please come forward and speak to us.”
