THIEVES fled a restaurant after being caught inside an upstairs flat.

Police say a member of staff at Mandrain Chef in Crampmoor, near Romsey, disturbed someone inside an upstairs room at about 8.30pm on Saturday.

The thieves fled the scen and after the flat was checked it was discovered that money had been stolen.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist our investigation following the theft.

"Maybe someone you know has more money than usual? Perhaps you were driving past the restaurant in Winchester Road around 8.30pm and have a dash cam that could have captured people entering or leaving the flat?
