EMERGENCY services have rushed to a Hampshire village after a road sweeper burst into flames.

A crew from Hardley Fire Station battled the blaze in Oak Road, Dibden.

They received an emergency call at around 7.20am today with reports of New Forest District Council road sweeper catching light.

According to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services, the fire started in the vehicle's engines.

No one was reported as injured with the blaze being put out just after 8am.

Executive Head of Operations for New Forest District Council, Colin Read said: "We are aware that this morning there was an incident with one of our road sweeper vehicles in which it set on fire whilst out in Dibden. Hampshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene and there were no injuries. We believe this was an isolated incident and are investigating the cause."
