NEARLY a third of drivers using a Hampshire road were found to be flouting the 30mph limit.
Police joined forces with Beaulieu's SpeedWatch team to carry out checks at Palace Lane, close to its junction with Dock Lane.
Almost 170 vehicles drove past, 52 of which were found to be exceeding the limit. The fastest was travelling at 48mph.
New Forest Heart Cops posted the results on social media.
They said: "In an hour from 9am we surveyed 169 vehicles and a staggering 52 of them were going over the 30mph limit."
Members of new Forest Roads campaign cited the large number of cows and donkeys that wander along Palace Lane.
A spokesperson said: "Speed limits are there for a reason."
