A POLICE officer has been rushed to hospital following an assault in Southampton
The officer suffered injuries to his face while executing a warrant on behalf of Southampton City Council at an address in Portswood Road today at around midday.
A 50-year-old man was detained and taken to a mental health facility.
According to a witness, six police cars and at least twelve officers were at the junction of Sirdar and Portswood Road, Southampton at around 1pm today.
The witness who wished to remain unnamed added that a couple of officers were bandaging another who appeared injured.
