FOUR members of the same musical family will come together this weekend for a special fundraiser for two remarkable little girls.

Four-year-old Lexie Gray-Small, from Marchwood, and Christchurch toddler Isabelle Revill, aged 16 months, have both been diagnosed with brain tumours.

Now Josh Rose, the drummer with rock band Saints of Sin, his parents Charlie and Alan, part of fiddle-fuelled folk-rock band State of Undress, and brother Ben Caleb Rose, a country music artist, are hoping to help both families when they take to the stage at New Milton Memorial Centre on Friday.

Lexie was rushed into neuro theatre last year where she immediately received five hours of emergency life-saving surgery. She spent nearly seven weeks in hospital, undergoing four further brain surgeries. She’s now at home with her family, but there’s a huge journey ahead. The position of the tumour means it cannot be removed and Lexie has been undergoing chemotherapy in a bid to shrink it. It has severely affected her eyesight and she now cannot see or sees very little.

Isabelle was rushed to hospital in Southampton in July after becoming so poorly she would sleep around the clock, only waking occasionally for milk or medicine. Lengthy emergency surgery saved her life and removed the whole tumour. Isabelle is amazing family and medics with her progress but is currently undergoing chemotherapy and is likely to need Proton Beam Therapy in future.

Isabelle’s Mum Jemma Revill said: “She absolutely floors me. I’m consumed and besotted with her. She’s just incredible and amazes us every day. We’re so overwhelmed by the support we have received from so many people.”

Lexie and her family are friends and followers of all the artists. Isabelle is the granddaughter of Trish Chaffey, friend and next door neighbour to the Rose family, who puts up with them rehearsing!

“I’ve grown up alongside the Rose family,” added Jemma. “They played my 18th birthday and they are incredible. We’re so grateful to them.”

This is also the only State of Undress gig this year as Charlie is, herself, recovering from cancer. She was given the all clear a couple of months ago and is looking forward to getting back to gigging properly early in 2020.

Saints of Sin interrupt their UK promoting their new album to take part.

Ben Caleb Rose is host of Bournemouth’s An Evening of Country and has a single, Take Me Back, out now.
