TWO teenagers have been arrested after a pensioner suffered injuries to face in an alleged assault.
Officers say the 67-year-old was left with injuries to his head and face after he confronted a group of youths he believed were shoplifting.
Police say the man was taken to hospital after the altercation in Fawley last night.
According to police, the incident took place in the vicinity of School Road and Church Lane, at around 8.45pm.
They say it followed an earlier incident, between 8.30pm and 8.40pm, where a group of youth were challenged over alleged shoplifting at Fawley Newsagents, The Square.
Officers are now appealing for information and would like to speak to anyone who was in The Square or the School Lane and Church Lane areas at the time of the time of the incidents.
Two boys, both aged 15 and from Hythe, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH and are currently in police custody.
Anyone with information is urged to call Hampshire Constabulary on 101 quoting 44190305063.
