KNITTING and the remains of a picnic were among the items stolen from a car parked in a Hampshire village.
The owner was enjoying a walk at Barton on Sea when their grey Citroen Grand Picasso was targeted by thieves, who smashed their way into the vehicle.
Items taken included a cream-coloured bag containing a near-completed shawl which the victim had been knitting as a gift for a relative.
The thieves also made off with a grey rucksack containing the remains of a picnic lunch and a purple shopping bag containing swimwear and other items of clothing.
However, all the items were later returned after being found by a member of the public in Walkford.
Anyone with information about the break-in can contact Hampshire police on 101, quoting crime reference number 4419029596. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
