A SOUTHAMPTON city centre park will welcome thousands of music-lovers as it hosts a festival this month.

ABODE In The Park is to take place over the bank holiday weekend on May 4 and hopes to attract more than 5,000 people to the city, saying this event will be “the biggest show in the city”.

Headlining the festival is world-renowned duo Solardo along with DJs Andrea Olivia and Latmun, as well as a great selection of house and tech-house DJs including Southampton-based Collective State.

Collective State are local melodic techno producers and label managers who often headline at many Southampton clubs.

There will also be a wide range of food and drink available to festival-goers.

The event will start at midday on May 4 and finish at 11pm.

Councillor Satvir Kaur said: “Southampton is the place where something is always happening, and it’s important we have a diverse offer that everyone can enjoy.

“Events like these make Southampton the vibrant and dynamic place it is, as well as attract thousands into our city that helps grow the local economy.”

ABODE are returning to Southampton for their annual show and said that this year will be their “biggest show in the city”.

ABODE has grown as a company after hosting many parties inside London’s Ibiza-styled Studio 338 club, as well as residencies on the Balearic island and their ABODE in the Park festivals.

First release tickets are now available and cost £30 from www.fatsoma.com.

Last year, Hoglands park was turned into the home of a three-day comedy festival.

Katherine Ryan, Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr, Rob Beckett, Rob Delany and Reginald D Hunter were just some of the biggest names in comedy performing at the event.

Punters could also enjoy live versions of some of their favourite shows, including Roast Battle and Drunk History.
