A MAN demanded another man's wallet and phone before punching him in the face and running away.

The 23-year-old victim was walking in Fernhill Lane, near Ballard Lake in New Milton, at about 1.45am on Saturday.

Another man then came out of the trees and approached him before demanding the items and attacking him.

The victim was left with a bloodied nose but nothing was stolen, and officers confirmed that a man has been arrested.

Police say the attacked as being white, about five feet nine inches tall, in his late 20s, had ginger or copper-coloured stubble, and was wearing a black puffa jacket with a fur-lined hood, and blue New Balance logo.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Were you in this area at the time? Do you remember seeing anything suspicious?

"Perhaps you saw a man matching the description given?"

A 20-year-old man from New Milton has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
