BBC Two's Newsnight will soon have its first all-female presenting team, featuring Emily Maitlis, Emma Barnett and Kirsty Wark. We asked readers if they think an all-female presenting team is a good idea.

  • Tina Stedman, a 63-year-old retired cater from Bitterne, said: "I think it is good, women should be heard and I think they should go for it. I think men believe they wear the trousers."
  • Amy Butler, a 24-year-old Solent University student from The Polygon, said: "I think it is always a good idea because women have been pushed out of things like that so I think they are pushing back a little. I think it is getting better for women."
  • Howard Beck, a 53-year-old lorry driver from Totton, said: "I think it is a good idea and I have no objection to it. It will encourage more women to go into the media and pursue better jobs."
  • Aaron Currey, a 23-year-old who works at Subway and lives in Woolston, said: "Definitely, it is always good to have more diversity and it is always good for women to have their own views. It will give them more of a confidence boost."
