The men, aged 26 and 29, from Eastleigh, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

But last night they were released from custody although police said the pair remain under investigation.

The were arrested after police were were called at 5.44am on Sunday to a report of two vehicles colliding with a pedestrian on Woodside Avenue.

The pedestrian, Sagar Bhatti, 23, of Avon Green, Chandler's Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Police say the men arrested were not in either of the cars involved in the collision and officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Bhatti's death.

“If you live in the area and have CCTV, please let us know as you may have captured something which could assist our investigation.

“The second is Woodside Avenue, where the collision took place.

“We’re still keen to speak to anyone who was driving along this road between 5.30am and 5.45am.

“If you saw anyone in the area between these times or think you may have captured something on your dash cam then please let us know.
