A MAN died after he was struck by an express train at Brockenhurst station, an inquest heard.
Paul James Arnold, 29, died at 5.30am on Friday November 23, the hearing was told in Winchester.
Assistant coroner Samantha Marsh said the driver of the non-stop train felt he had struck something and brought the train to a halt and the body of Mr Arnold was found.
Ms Marsh said that in 2012 Mr Arnold had tried to end his life by jumping in front of a train at the same station. He had lost both legs and was left with a deformed hand.
Mr Arnold, of Foxholes Road, Bournemouth, was identified through the serial numbers and his name on the prosthetic limbs.
She described the case as the "most tragic of circumstances."
The inquest was adjourned until April 29 next year.
