A HAMPSHIRE hotel has been named 'Countryside Hotel of the Year' for a third consecutive year.

Chewton Glen, on Christchurch Road, New Milton, claimed the title in this year's The Caterer's 2018 Hoteliers' Hotel Top 100, and was voted the industry's second favourite property in the UK.

Appearing as the top hotel in the county on the annual list, Chewton Glen was recognised for the high standard of its facilities, nine-hole golf course, spa, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and croquet lawn.

The hotel was joined in the top 10 by Lyndhurst's Lime Wood hotel, which was ranked sixth on the list.

Other hotels in Hampshire selected within the top hundred The Pig at Brockenhurst (12) and Lainston Manor, Winchester (71).

It was the third time the awards have taken place, which sees leading figures in the hotel industry throughout the UK vote for their favourites.

The awards, in association with Sky, were this year held at Hotel Cafe Royal.

Chris Gamm, editor of The Caterer, said: "We are delighted to see Chewton Glen in runner up position as well as claim the Countryside Hotel of the Year award for an incredible third year running.

"This magnificent property never rests on its laurels, offering guests something new every year with this year no exception as two more treehouse suites have been added to its portfolio of rooms every year."

The Caterer, the leading publication in the hospitality and catering industry, asked the UK’s top hoteliers to vote for their overall top three hotels across Great Britain to form the 2018 Hoteliers’ Hotels Top 100 list.

Top hoteliers also nominated their favourite property across six categories including 'Spa Hotel of the Year', 'City Hotel of the Year' and 'Boutique Hotel of the Year'.
