This weekend Winchester enjoyed stunning sunshine and high temperatures.

The good news is that the hot weather is set to continue and nothing beats a pub garden in the sunshine.

This week is starting off hot with the weather in Winchester predicted to be between 29 – 32 degrees Celsius.

Towards the end of the week temperatures are forecast to drop to the more comfortable but still warm mid to low 20s.

Here are some of the best beer gardens to visit during the heatwave.

Alfie’s

Situated in the centre of Winchester Alfie’s is the ideal spot to spend a sunny afternoon.

You can dine and drink amongst fairy lights and flowers in their Enchanted garden.

The plus side to this pub garden is that it is partly sheltered which is perfect for this week’s weather of hot temperatures, sun and the possible thunderstorm.

The Black Boy

Just off the beaten track will find this traditional backstreet boozer.

This quirky pub is decorated with an eclectic mix of art, clutter and taxidermy.

Here you will find a sheltered rustic garden ideal for escaping to the shade on hot days.

The Willow Tree

This Winner of a 2020 Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award is an idyllic place to spend a sunny afternoon.

Here you can sit in a pretty pub garden with tributaries of fast flowing river on either side.

The Bishop on the Bridge

On the bank of the River Itchen you will find The Bishop on the Bridge a great spot for al fresco dining.

With various different seating options available you will be able to find the right spot for you with sunny tables overlooking the river and shaded private cabins to the back.

The Queen Inn

On the outskirts of the city is this picturesque flower filled pub.

Here you can spend your day in the quaint front garden next to an array of flower displays.

If you need more space you can head round the back to their large modern back garden for lots more seating.

The King Charles

Located in the village of Kings Worthy just a 10 minute drive from Winchester city centre you can find this cosy community pub.
