A POPULAR event for youngsters celebrated its fifth year with a move to the Discovery Centre – seeing dozens of children enjoy a packed programme of activities.

COWfest (Children of Winchester Festival) offered free workshops and activities including arts and crafts, music, drama, zumba, yoga, mindfulness, puppetry, circus skills, and Lego construction.

Volunteers from communities across the city helped out on the day, with Winchester University students, the Winchester Embroiderers Guild, Winnall Rock School and Hampshire Cultural Trust all lending a hand.

The event is organised by Winchester Sport Art and Leisure Trust (Winchester SALT).

The charity’s chief executive, Emma Back, said: “We’re really pleased with how the festival went at its new venue. It was very busy, which made for a great atmosphere.

“We’re grateful to Winchester BID, Waitrose and Hampshire County Council for their support, and to all the fantastic activity providers and volunteers. COWfest couldn’t happen without them!”
