Romsey's biggest comedy event has announced their star-studded line-up for next year ahead of their ticket launch.

Organisers of Giggles in the Garden hope to attract 1,000 comedy lovers to Sir Harold Hiller Gardens after drawing in approximately 650 residents this year.

The "huge" acts are set to take over the gardens on June 27, according to one of the organiser's from The House Of Comedy, Luke Geddis.

The headline act for Giggles in the Garden will be Shappi Khorsandi, who has appeared on a number of TV and radio shows including Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Have I got News For You.

Ignacio Lopez will be returning to the stage, who has been touring his show EspanYOLO in theatres around the UK.

Craig Campbell is another returning comedian, who will be supported by Frankie Boyle for the third time on his national tour.

Luke, from the House of Comedy, said: "This year we are hoping to get to around 1,000 people attending the event and everyone seems excited about it.

"The locals wanted people like Ignacio Lopez and Craig Campbell to come back and they both loved it this year when they came in June.

"The comment we got from Craig last time was 'you have got something special here' and next year we have got his partner in crime Sean Collins joining us."

When asked about their headline act, the 43-year-old added: "Shappi is wonderful and I dropped her an email and within five minutes she said she would do it.

"We wanted her as a headline act because she is superb."

Other acts in the pipeline for the comedy show are Phil Kay, Sean Collins, Chris Purchase Green and more.

A comedian who lives in Romsey, Elle Bert, will also be feature in the comedy event.

More acts are set to be confirmed for Giggles in the Garden at a later date.

Alcohol lovers could also be in for a treat, as organisers at Sir Harold Hiller Gardens are considering having a "gin bar, or Prosecco bar", according to Luke.

Tickets are set to go on sale in early November, but a specific date is yet to be confirmed.

The show will start at 7pm and run until 10pm and comedy lovers are encourage to bring picnics and drinks for the evening.

Tickets are priced at £30.
