THEY had one goal -to dispose of fallen trees, vegetation and garbage in two adjacent wastelands, which formed a rural oasis in the residential area.
Do Your Bit for Daisy Dip took place on March 4, 1978 and was organised by milkman Derek Rawles.
The area had suffered at the hands of humans and at the mercy of the elements. Wind-swept trees and grass blocked the stream, and the water lay stagnated. Old tires, broken toys, paper, glass, and even mattresses littered the grass slopes.
