JOIN the Daily Echo on a trip back to 1986 with this selection of wonderful images.

The pictures are likely to evoke memories from when they were taken 35 years ago.

Many of the locations shown are instantly recognisable despite plenty of changes having been made in the years since.

Daily Echo:

Rundown warehouses and sheds at Southampton's Princess Marina Docks were torn down to make way for a new £75m development known as Ocean Village.

The public were invited to view plans for the 75-acre development which would eventually include a marina, multi-screen cinema, offices, luxury homes, a shopping centre and restaurants.

Ocean Village was hailed as a major development to revamp the city and transform its decaying former docks.

Daily Echo:

Eastleigh's Market Street looked busy with shoppers as they peered through frontages on a hunt for bargains.

Long gone shops such as Radio Rentals and Dixons were among the shops while above them hung property sale boards displaying telephone numbers prefixed with the old area code of 0703.

Daily Echo:

The corner of Bellevue Road and London Road looked very different with the old Edmund Kell Unitarian Church featuring prominently.

A new church has been built in the years since, but is set back behind offices recently used by Telecommunications company Tetcom.
