NINETEEN talented fashion students from Southampton pinned their hopes on making an impact on high street stores when they showed their wares at an end-of-course fashion show.
Revelations 90 took place on June 15, 1990, and the brief was simple: each youngster had to design and create six garments for a specific market and leave a mark on the nation’s fashion scene.
Among the directors of the event were fashion gurus from Next and Gucci.
Although the work signalled the climax of a two-year HND Fashion course and gave 18 women and one man a taste of the competitive world of professional fashion before they looked for employment.
From the earthy simplicity of rough textured cottons and linens to the luxurious fusion of velvet, chiffon and silk dupion, the collection had something to offer everyone.

The audience at the show saw clothes which were essentially wearable, from leisure wear to wedding gowns, evening wear to working chic.
