Two canoes and a sailing dinghy were presented to Prince Charles during a visit to Southampton.
The Prince was in the city on June 11, 1980, to see the Shipbuilding Industry Training Board's new centre in Hazel Road, Woolston.
Prince Charles flew into the city by helicopter from Buckingham Palace, landing in misty rain at the heliport in West Quay Road.
As he made his way to Woolston, the Prince became the first member of the Royal family to cross the Itchen Bridge since it was opened by Princess Alexandra in 1977.
For the youngsters at the training centre, the highlight of the visit was when Prince Charles gave a Royal "seal of approval" to the products of their training –including hand-built dinghies, marine equipment and cabin furniture.
The Prince was shown around the main workshops joiner's shop, mould loft and the glassfibre workshop.

Prince Charles presented awards to the trainees in the annual prize ceremony held in a marque at the centre before leaving Southampton for Portsmouth where he was received the Freedom of the City.
