Hello and welcome to your morning Saints briefing where we have the latest on the club's managerial search and much, much more.

Happy Friday everyone! Another week - this one rather long - is coming to an end.

And after a week fraught with discussion around Saints next manager, it will be Ruben Selles leading the team for now.

It was thought that Jesse Marsch would be coming in to replace Nathan Jones but Saints are now at a standstill after talks with the American broke down.

There is no guarantee that Marsch was the right man for the job but the nature of Saints convoluted and inconsistent handling of the managerial situation has certainly raised questions.

But for now, it will be Selles who we will be speaking with today at Staplewood, his pre-Chelsea press conference scheduled for 1pm.

Can Saints still stay up this season? They definitely CAN but it will be a major challenge, as assessed here.

That's all from us this morning but we'll have lots more on the Daily Echo Saints page as we look ahead to Saturday's trip to Stamford Bridge.

If you want full, unrestricted access to all our Saints coverage and everything else the Daily Echo has to offer, we've got a deal on right now where you can get the first month of a subscription for just £1.

One day until the weekend - happy Friday all!
