HYTHE & Dibden are still lording it at the Sydenhams Division One summit after a 3-0 home win over Petersfield Town.

A dominant first-half display laid the foundations for victory as the Clayfields crew went in two up at the break.

The breakthrough came on 16 minutes when Cain Prentice fastened onto keeper Ellis Grant’s huge clearance before being bundled over in the area. Sam Woodward stepped up to bury the penalty.

Pretty soon it was two when Woodward met a back-post delivery with a firm header. Petersfield keeper Tom Jackson did well to beat the ball away, but it fell nicely for Prentice to slot home.

Petersfield had more possession in the second half but, with ten minutes to go, it was game over as the influential Woodward rolled a pass through to Wayne O’Dell for 3-0.

Third-placed AFC Stoneham easily preserved their unbeaten league record with a 6-1 win over Downton courtesy of Matt Bainbridge (2), Eduardo Jiminez (2), Alex Welch and Will Harris.

But the day’s biggest scorers were fourth-placed Romsey Town who flattened Follands 9-0 at the Bypass Ground.

Liam Magee led the way with a hat-trick, backed by Zac Mouland (2), Jack Odam (2), skipper Harry Draycott and sub Indrit Elizi.
