EASTLEIGH handed a debut to new midfield signing Cavaghn Miley from Jersey in tonight’s 2-1 friendly win at AFC Stoneham.
Miley was recommended to Spitfires' chief Richard Hill by former Aston Villa boss Brian Little through his work managing Jersey’s representative side.
An old head on young shoulders, the 21-year-old St Paul's midfielder was this year made Jersey captain.
Hill, who once assisted Little at Villa, said: “Cav was recommended to me from a good friend and someone whose judgement I trust.
"It’s a similar case to when we signed Harvey Read last week. There was a list of clubs looking at him.
“Cav has been on trial at a League club and they came close to agreeing something.”
Having fallen behind at Stoneham, Eastleigh hit back for victory.
Ben Strevens set up Craig McAllister for the equaliser and Paul Reid headed home the winner from Ross Stearn’s cross.
*Jamie Barron scored a hat-trick of penalties for Winchester City in their 3-3 friendly draw at Moneyfields.
