STRIKER Mark Francis has become Salisbury’s fifth summer signing.

The 22-year-old former Swindon Town forward has joined the Whites from Wantage Town where he was leading scorer last term.

Despite Wantage being relegated from the Southern One South & West, Francis returned impressive stats of 18 goals from 40 appearances for the basement club.

His last goal for the Alfredians came in a 2-0 win over Slimbridge in mid-April.

Dorchester-born Francis began his career in the Portsmouth academy set-up and, following his release from Fratton Park, joined Swindon Town.

He made his Robins' first-team debut off the bench in a 2-0 defeat at Sheffied United in April 2013.

During his time with Swindon, he went on loan to AFC Totton but injury curtailed his stay with the Stags.

Following his release by Swindon in May 2014, Francis has moved around the Southern League circuit with Didcot, Chippenham and Frome.

He joins Stuart Green (Winchester City), Marvin Brooks (Poole Town) and ex-Weymouth pair Chris Shephard and Jake Wannell at Salisbury as they look to improve on last season's progress to the Southern One South & West play-off final.
