BLACKFIELD & Langley have added Joe Butcher to their growing band of former Newport IW players.
The striker is the second ex-Port man to have crossed The Solent this summer, following midfielder Liam Triggs through the Gang Warily door.
The pair will hope to make a similar impact to former St George's Park teammate Ryan Oatley, named B&L's supporters’ player-of-the-season as the club finished fourth in the Sydenhams Premier Division last term.
Wideman Sam Griffin, signed from Bemerton Heath, was Blackfield’s first arrival of a busy summer, and defender Adam Costello and midfielder Connor Doe – an ex-Blackfield player - have since followed him to the Waterside from Western Way.
Midfielder/defender Franklyn Clarke is another familiar face to have rejoined the Blackfield ranks after spells with Dorchester Town, York City and Salisbury.
Ex-Saint Jamie White, last season’s top scorer, has signed up for another Wessex top-flight season with Blackfield, along with Liam Robinson, goalkeeper Brad Snelling (manager's player-of-the-season), Ryan Oatley, Harrison Fay, Callum Cunniff-Pilley, Michael Turvey, England under-18 schoolboy international Jordan Ngalo and trusty defender Joe Byrne who is ready for his sixth season with the club.
*Andy Sampson will continue as Newport IW boss next season.
Sampson resigned last month, but has now agreed to stay after talks with Islanders' chairman Stuart Ross.
A club statement said: "Newport Isle of Wight FC experienced some internal administrative matters, which I'm glad have now been resolved."
